High Five

While we wait for Davy to respond to the last post's comments, I would like to put out some awards for greatness in several areas. I don't know what the "award" is, just a mention of our support and thanks.

Lets start with Carrie Prejean, besides being pretty, her award is for standing up for what she believes in. Her answer to a somewhat unfair Miss USA question was excellent, and becoming of any Christian. Oh and should I throw in my two bits about "tollarence" ah no, better not.

The second award goes to Mr. Mike Pearl and Mr. Bill Gothard, their resolving of differences, and misunderstandings was amazing to see. I think it's time some Independent Fundamental Baptist were "inspired" to "preserve" their kind if you know what I mean. But what do I know, I'm just a guy?

Third goes to Dick Cheney for telling a slightly out of touch Colin Powell how it is. As much as I like Mr. Powell, I believe that his thinking that the Republican party needs to move to the middle of the road is wrong. John McCain anyone?

Some lady, Casey Ray, gets the forth for good old fashion honesty. Sorry girls, vampries had to be somewhere here, JK JK don't kill me.

I kinda like this "award" thing, you will have to comment and tell me if you would like it continued.

Untill next time,
S-S

"Next time" edit 5/12/09
I have forgotten a fifth, Jey Leno, maybe if our politicians cared half as much for struggling people as Jey does, our country would not be in the state it's in. They are "Public Servants" remember?

Alright Bret...POST NOW!! Give me something to argue with you about. Come to think of it...that might be kind of hard. Give it a shot anyway.

I DID!!!!!!!!!!!

Amber said...

Caleb, who are you tell someone to post?? :) YOU haven't posted since June 4th!!

Rhonda said...

I would say that if this blog doesn't have a post soon we should give it a nice funeral.
So, Bret, a little touchy about the Mayan calendar thing, are we? Not your planned topic is it? ;)

Rhonda said...

I am just publishing an other comment because I wanted to be notified of any future comments. Just ignore this.

Anna Joy said...

I agree wholeheartedly, Rhonda. Shall we give it till Novemeber 11? I say that if a blog hasn't had a post in six months it's officially dead. :) You can play your violin, and I'll read a nice poem, and we'll put it to rest properly.

*is weird*

but y'all already knew that.

Rhonda said...

Ok, Anna, it's a deal.

Rhonda said...

Well, Anna, one more day. Do you have your poem ready? I am pretty sure I can come up with a good song.

Anna Joy said...

My poem is all ready. Would you like to play your violin song now, or shall I go ahead and recite my poem?

Rhonda said...

You can go ahead and read your poem, Anna. This is a very solemn occasion.

Anna Joy said...

You're right, it is. Okay. *clears throat* Y'all listening?

In loving memory of Brett's exclusive LIFE commentary:

We are gathered here today to put a very good blog to rest.

We've had lots of good times, the debates were the best.

It was first Bret's and Caleb's, then Bret's and Davy's,

The only word that rhymes with Davy is gravy. (sorry Davy!)

After six months of ominous silence from this once-active place,

It has been officially determined that death is the case.

So we'll remember the good times, and try to forget the bad.

(Like how pink shirts on guys make Lydia and I very sad.)

The Sacred Cow Barbeque was definitely something different,

That could only come out of a brain like Bret's.

It didn't live very long, only two years.

So we'll weep and wail and shed bitter tears.

But don't worry!

Your blog will be forgotten in a hurry.

*thinks she will not pursue a career as a poet*

All right, Rhonda...your turn.

*sniffles sadly*

Anna Joy said...

I think I'm going to end up having to play the violin myself. And if this blog weren't already dead, that would kill it for sure.

Anna Joy said...

Ignore this comment. :)

Rhonda said...

Sorry, Anna. I just haven't been able to. Would it count if I just played it down here by myself?

Matthew Arnold said...

Ok, Bret, here's a topic for you. In my opinion, conservative churches (like the ones you and I attend) have done a terrible job reaching out into and evangelizing their communities. We're stuck in the past, using methods and practices that were cutting edge twenty or thirty years ago, but we've become lazy and unwilling to innovate. As a result we've let liberal churches define change and innovation, and we are fast becoming an irrelevant movement within American "Christianity". We need to begin to take a second look at the way we reach out to and evangelize our communities and harness technology, and more effective methods of communication and outreach.

Ok, well, I hope that will bring some life to this blog. If not...I tried, and I'll think of another topic.

Rhonda said...

I haven't played my violin yet (or posted someone else playing) so maybe it isn't too late to revive it.

Anna Joy said...

No, no, no!!!! You may NOT resurrect this blog! It's dead and that's that. ;)

Rhonda said...

Who says, Anna? Maybe it is on life support. I think it is pretty well dead though. I have a feeling Bret doesn't even know that we gave it a funeral - or have a funeral since I never got around to my part. I think it is so dead that he never even reads the comments.

Amber said...

Ok, i agree with Rhonda. I am starting to miss the debates... :'(*sniff sniff*

Rhonda said...

Anna, I think it was more than just the blog we gave a funeral for here. I think it was a passing phase of our lives. Or as Bethany posted about a while back just a fad. Everyone (or at least some) got tired of it and moved on. It isn't just this blog that died.
So... I still have to post a song for the official end. I had better make it good!

Anna Joy said...

Yes Rhonda, you're right.

Ok, what song are you going to play?

Rhonda said...

I haven't decided, Anna. I have one in mind but I have to figure out how to record it.

Rhonda said...

Hmmm... I could do that. First I have to figure out how to RECORD. I guess I could just use my sisters camera and make a video. I was just going to do audio. But what ever....

Amber said...

*Hums tune to "Amazing Grace"..... *

BSBT said...

Going for a year?

I never did comment on this post.
You asked what we thought, then seemed to go off into that land of noblogingness...

Oh well.

Your blog.

Anna Joy said...

I think so, bsbt! Maybe Rhonda can play her long-awaited violin song for the one year anniversary.

Anna Joy said...

Oh and the anonymous commenter who wanted a post about 2012? That was me. I've decided to be mightily offended that the world is ending four days before my twentieth birthday. ;)

BSBT said...

=) poor kitty

Rhonda said...

For some reason I didn't get notified of the last couple of comments. Anna, I was planning on playing the song for today - but I probably still won't record it.
It has officially been a year for this poor little blog. Something tells me it won't be revived. I have been holding out hope for the last six months but no.... Maybe I should go ahead and play the funeral song. Then it would be officially dead and it could be raised from the dead instead of just dying!
Ok, so that was some silly rambling!

Rhonda said...

I just realized there are 44 comments on here - five of them were about the post. The other 39 were asking for a new post. :)

You are hoping I now die? What kind of friend are you??? But, yes, I was rather shocked when I saw the notification in my in box that there was life on this thread again! I was reading some older post the other day and read the whole thread about "symbolism." It made me laugh.

Men are the ones who create evil on Earth. It is the choices they make which enslave their souls to hell.
And that's why you are continually reincarnated. Welcome to the Matrix.

7 billion in 2011. Only 1 billion in 1800 and 2 billion in 1900.
Population explosion is a clue::::The gods are sending everyone back for The End.
There must be some purgatory-like place. Or individual. Like an animal.
Now the gods have sent everyone back to try for one final time to fix their problems and ascend into heaven. Avoiding an animal would have been a big positive because those thrust into this decayed enviornment have less of a chance than those who enjoyed the god's generosity of a slowly decaying enviornment with frightening clues, like the Depression, World at War, the Holocaust, etc.
Anything that can get the poeple frightened and praying is a good. thing. Contentment never motivated anyone.

As we approach the Apocalypse the gods are removing "wrath of god" material from xtian dogma.
As we see wickedness spread throughout the country, like preditory behavior, godlessness, social changes, etc, using cable TV and the spread of "Californication" as justification, they changed xtianity, appropriatly with Catholicism first.
xtianity has changed radically in the 20th century, and everyone should be mindful of the way it was, because the people are in a process of slipping out of god's favor into a state of Damnation, from which the vast majority will never survive.
They used to scare people and make them too afraid to make mistakes. Now people aren't afraid of anything and don't think twice about doing something wicked and evil which will hurt their chances.

Good god says a ceiling on time for everyone (see below). Evil god still gives hope for immortality to people who subscribed to preditory behavior:::Immortality if you are right versus a couple centuries partying at best even if you change now.
Due to institutional evil the closer we get to The End the more evil everyone incurrs (with individual variation due to behavior) which limits the time for everyone.
Probably the children who fix their problems and ascend into heaven as well. Experiencing the evil of modern life in the 20th century costed them, for which limits are placed. They are not the same as their innocent peasantry ancestors from the Old World.
You people have fucked up bad by not getting out before the 20th century.
Just because the gods have to break some eggs doesn't mean they are evil. As management there are hard decisions that must be made. But they used this omelette and sold it to people as temptation, who went out and did things they shouldn't have done thinking being preditory was the way to "earn" their way into heaven.

Employment charity:::Was W able to do his job as President?
I suspect there are many frat-boy types who couldn't or wouldn't study nor do the work necessary so they gained this "benefit" telepathically. This could have been extended to their professional life as well::In most of these cases they don't have what it takes to do their jobs. It is temptation which buys their confidence for life, ensuring no progress is made.
I think employment charity is FAR more common than people may believe.
Another example how they tempted people in this manner is the procurement of sexual relations.
Keep raping these poor girls. You're going to end up as one in your next life.

Another feature which the Gods offer as a clue is very foreboading and ominous. Mt. Zion is a mountain to the north of Diablo (the eye of The Beast) and one which has a working quarry at its base. Consistant with the decay we experience in society, Mt. Zion is being eaten away, slowly stripped of its resources, until one day paradise will be gone forever.

If people only understood the importance of good parents. You won't be going anywhere without them. And it won't happen unless you are one first.

So why did this blog die anyway? It was two years ago yesterday since the last post.
